Why teams look for a Dub Partners alternative

Teams look for a Dub Partners alternative when the 5% payout fee grows with the program or they pass 500 partners. Others want partner code they can host. The four reasons below each pair a sourced Dub fact with what OpenPromoter does.

  • A fee on every payout

Dub charges 5% of payouts (3% on Enterprise) and 8% when funded by card.[1]

OpenPromoter takes 0% of payouts on every plan. Only the rail's own fee applies.

  • Partner code left the public repo

Dub's partner code sat under a commercial license and was removed from the public repository on 2026-10-26.[2][3]

OpenPromoter's whole app is AGPL-3.0. Every feature is in the self-hosted version.

  • Partner and payout limits

Business allows 500 partners and $30k of partner payouts a year.[4]

Every OpenPromoter plan has unlimited partners. Self-hosted has no revenue cap.

  • Risk checks on higher plans

Dub lists risk monitoring on Advanced and above.[4]

OpenPromoter runs its fraud checks on every plan.

What Dub Partners does well

Dub Partners scores 7 of 10 on our checklist. Its strength is growth tools such as bounties, dual-sided incentives and an AI landing-page generator. Teams that already run their short links on Dub can keep one vendor for links, partners and payouts.

  • Bounties, dual-sided incentives, an AI landing-page generator and email campaigns.[4][5]
  • A 90-day attribution cookie with last-click by default.[6]
  • Automated global payouts with tax compliance on the Business plan.[4]

Pricing: Business $81 and Advanced $270 a month with Enterprise on request. Payout limits of $30k and $180k a year. Fees of 5% of payouts (3% on Enterprise).[4] Checked November 2026.

How we ranked these Dub Partners alternatives

We wrote ten jobs before scoring any tool and applied them the same way to all of them, OpenPromoter included. Each job scores 1 when the vendor's own page states it, 0.5 when it is partial and 0 when it is not mentioned.

The entry plan is the cheapest plan that runs a live program. Ties go to the tool with the longer track record. MCP servers and self-hosting appear as facts in each entry and are not scored.

What the checklist leaves out

A score is only as good as its jobs. These matter to many buyers and are not in the total.

  • Track record

Years in market and the size of each customer base.

  • Reviews

We did not score G2, Capterra or Trustpilot ratings.

  • Integration depth

Recurly, Braintree, CRMs and store platforms count only through the billing job. FirstPromoter, PartnerStack and Tapfiliate go deeper here.

  • AI agents

Most tools here ship an MCP server. We list it as a fact and do not score it. Rules differ on whether an agent may move money.

  • Self-hosting

Only OpenPromoter publishes its source code to run on your own server. We list it as a fact and leave it out of the total.

What moves over when you switch

When you move from Dub Partners to OpenPromoter, export your partners as CSV and drop the file into Settings > Import. OpenPromoter reads the column names and brings in up to 5,000 partners per file. Past commissions and payouts stay in the old tool.

  • Partners

Name, email, website and country from the CSV export.

  • Referral codes

Each partner keeps their code. A taken code gets a short suffix.

  • PayPal emails

Imported as the partner's payout method.

  • Coupon codes

Imported and tied to the partner.

Links on Dub Partners's domains stay with Dub Partners. Partners get new OpenPromoter links from the portal, and the tracking docs show how op.js reads them.

How to switch from Dub Partners

Moving from Dub Partners to OpenPromoter takes seven steps. You export partners, connect billing, import the file, swap the tracking script and test one purchase. Then you tell partners about the new portal and settle what the old tool still owes them.

  1. 1Export your partners from Dub as CSV. The file needs an email column.
  2. 2Connect Stripe in OpenPromoter and match your current commission terms.
  3. 3Drop the CSV into Settings > Import. Partners arrive approved.
  4. 4Add op.js to your site and send partners their new OpenPromoter links.
  5. 5Run a test-mode purchase to check the commission. Delete the test data after.
  6. 6Keep Dub links live until partners have replaced them. Links on Dub's domains are served by Dub.
  7. 7Pay the commissions you still owe in the old tool. Keep its export of past commissions for your records.

The getting started guide covers each step in the app. Pricing, payouts, tax and fraud sit side by side in the OpenPromoter vs Dub Partners table.
